Welcome to the northernmost music store, recording studio

and music venue in the state of Michigan.

Root Notes consists of four different facets of the entertainment industry all coinciding in one building located in downtown Laurium, Michigan.

 

Music Store

Our music store carries both new and used gear from name brand manufacturers at affordable prices. We specialize in effects pedals, strings, and unique/custom instruments, but carry a variety of items necessary for the working musician.  Lessons are available from several different teachers for guitar, bass, drums, piano, and music theory.

Store hours are Tuesday through Saturday noon until six.

Venue

The Root Notes music venue is an all ages, all genre venue geared towards originality. We strive to provide a fun and friendly atmosphere for the performers and audience alike. The venue includes both an ample dance floor and seating, and boasts an impressive lightshow.

Recording Studio

Our facility also houses a digital multitrack recording studio featuring enough space to comfortably track a full band. We also offer mastering and duplication services in addition to production planning.

Root Notes Radio

We are home to Root Notes Radio, an internet radio station that broadcasts 24 hours a day playing jam bands, funk, blues, rock, reggae, folk, and jazz. Tune in every Monday to catch “Michigan Mondays,” a full day devoted to performers from the Great Lakes State. If blues music is your thing, catch “Bluesday Tuesday” for a great mixture of blues from all your favorite artists as well as up and coming blues greats.
